This Is Us

A story about us.

New Hampshire was our home for most of our lives, but we needed a change. The winters were long; with lots of snow and very little sunlight. We decided to spend some time traveling around the mainland of the United States. Little did we know, the Northeast Kingdom would eventually be our forever home.

After traveling around, we found ourselves back in New Hampshire. It was going great! There is nothing like being around the people you love. A few years went by, and we had the urge to travel again, but this time somewhere tropical. Hawaii was the perfect place for our next destination.

Hawaii was our home for the next four years. The backyard consisted of Citrus trees, cacti, flowers, succulents, etc. Freshly squeezed juice was the household favorite. The front yard was blooming with bananas, avocados and so much more. Hawaii is magical and will forever have a place in our hearts. The Big Island of Hawaii is a beautiful place that inspired us to do what we are doing today.

Being away from family is one of the most difficult things anyone can do and that is ultimately why we chose to move back to the Northeast. Living in Hawaii made us realize how sustainable we really can be. It showed us the best versions of ourselves and made us want to be that every day.

Homesteading begins

It all begins with an idea.

It all began with an idea. A small idea we want to turn big. Farming has always been in our family, whether it is having vegetable gardens or raising livestock. Our vision when first moving back to the Northeast was to have a farm with goats and chickens and plenty of vegetable gardens to live a sustainable life.

The summer of 2021 was when we began homesteading. The gardens consisted of corn, tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, squash, and so much more. We were able to can some things like tomatoes, salsa, dilly beans, and pickled eggs. R.M. Kidds farm started with Nigerian Dwarf Goats and chickens. The Nigerian Dwarf Goats are milkers and provide us with raw goat’s milk. The goat’s milk is used to make our soaps and caramels.

Our goal for the summer of 2022 is to grow fresh produce and sell it at the local farmer’s markets. Along with selling some of our other products online, such as hand-crafted goat’s milk soap, canned goods, and homemade caramels.

We are excited to see what this year has to offer! Follow along with us on our journey of homesteading.
